How do you thank someone who played such an integral part in shaping your personal & professional development? Tom was the go-to person for all things advertising. By 9:30 AM, you could get the news of the day from a half dozen newspapers, along with a saucy side of Hollywood & local dish.In Tom-years, I'm a relatve newbie, only knowing Tom for 24 of his 50 yrs in the biz. Ten weeks after I started a new job & joined the Ad Club board, my husband & I jumped from our burning apt.bldg a week before Thanksgiving. Folks sent cards. Tom -- who I had just met - sent cards, called to cheer us, sent more cards & basically entertained us during our recuperation. He became a dear friend.Tom & I worked a lot around Christmas events, whether December or July. When a car dealer client brought in the spec.effects pro from the movie "Fargo" to drop 40 tons of snow at his dealership in July, I brought in Tom! With lines like: "Snowstorm to Hit South Jersey", "an avalanche of activities", "Put Your Weather Reports on Ice", it's no surprise Tom hit the Six-fecta, with all 6 tv stations (including a suited Don Polec making snow angels), major newspapers & magazines covering this event! It worked in New Jersey, why not South Philly? Tom's cheeky headline, "Something Fishy's Happening in South Philly" was a great lead-in for a July Feast of the 7 Fishes (and an homage to Angelo Bruno). Only Tom would come up with "Yule Love It!" as a call to action. So many stories. So much love, talent & joy! How do you say goodbye to such a treasured friend? Mary Lou, Darren & Cheryl, Ali & Tony -- Know that love never ends. Tom will watch out for you from his Heavenly perch, all the while cracking up every saint in his midst. Much love to you.
