Werner Kurt & Mary Elizabeth Paulus' Obituary
Werner Kurt Paulus Sr., 78, passed away at Sentera Halifax Regional Hospital the evening of October 18, 2015. Werner was born in Frankfurt, Germany to the late Konrad Paulus and Dorathea Graser Paulus. He was retired from Oscar Mayer, where he worked for 35 years as the Maintenance Director. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Maple Shade, and enjoyed golfing, solving advanced math problems and building furniture.
Werner’s beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Elizabeth Paulus, passed away a few months later on Monday, April 18, 2016, at the age of 79. She was born in Maple Shade, NJ on January 21, 1937 to the late Bessie Head and Louis Ensign. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who had a passion for art and animals. She was an art director at her long time employer, Moorestown Lutheran Home.
The Paulus’ were currently residing in Clarksville, Virginia. They are survived by their son, Werner Kurt Paulus Jr. and his wife Carole of Westampton, NJ; son, Brian Justin Paulus of Merritt Island, FL; daughter, Nicole Suzanne Abbitt and husband George of Halifax, VA; Werner’s sister Anita Harris; his brother, Arthur “Art” Paulus; Elizabeth’s sisters, Louise Conely, Gladys Suplee and Penny Omen and her brother David Kinkade, all residents of NJ.
Also surviving are their eight grandchildren, Amy Paulus, Justin Paulus, Jack Underwood, Summer Paulus, Alison Paulus, Zachary Paulus, Sara Abbitt, and Sam Abbitt.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a life celebration memorial gathering in their honor at Inglesby/Givnish of Maple Shade, 600 E. Main St., on Saturday, July 30th, from 2 pm – 4 pm.
