William A DeVece's Obituary
William A. DeVece, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away suddenly on May 26, 2023, at the age of 93. He was born on February 9, 1930, in Palmyra, NJ, to the late Alfonso and Rosa DeVece.
For nearly 67 years, William was the devoted husband of Nancy DeVece (nee McGuckin). Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. William was a loving father to his children, William "Bill" DeVece (MaryAnn), the late Colleen, NancyRose Forbes (James), and Francine Esposito (David). He took great pride in being a grandfather to Bill (Monica), Dan, Beth (James), Evan, Adam, Shannon, and Erica. His joy multiplied with the addition of his great-grandchildren, Jameson and Ellie.
William's roots ran deep in Palmyra, NJ, where he was born and raised. He graduated from Palmyra High School in 1947 before bravely serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. After his military service, William founded DeVece & Shaffer Printing Company in 1960, a business that remains family-owned and operated to this day. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his craft were evident in the success of his company.
Active in his community, William was a member of various organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, where he served as a past Grand Knight, and the Palmyra Riverton Cinnaminson Rotary Club. He took great pleasure in giving back and making a positive impact on the lives of those around him.
William took great pride in his Italian heritage and continued a lasting relationship with his cousins across the ocean. While serving in Germany as a soldier in the army, William traveled to the city of his parents birth, Salerno Italy, to see his relatives for the first of many trips. In 2001, William was able to merge his two worlds together by bringing his American and Italian families together to continue the family tie to Salerno, Italy.
Above all else, William will be remembered for the boundless love and devotion he had for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family was the center of his world, and he embraced every opportunity to create lasting memories with them.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, June 2nd, at Sacred Heart Church of Riverton from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral mass honoring William's life will commence at 11:00 am, followed by entombment at St. Peter's Cemetery in Riverside, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in William's name to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, a cause that held significance to him. Through these contributions, William's legacy of generosity and compassion will continue to impact the lives of others.
