William D. Goodwin Jr.'s Obituary
William D. Goodwin, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Virtua Hospital in Mt. Holly. Born in Trenton, NJ to William and Mae Goodwin, Bill was 82 years old. Bill was a resident of Delran since 1962.
Beloved husband of 62 years to Mary E. (nee Wanninger) Goodwin. Loving father of Joseph (Lorri) Goodwin, James (Donna) Goodwin and Jeffrey (Shannon) Goodwin.
Cherished grandfather of Jim Jr. (Kambrianna), the late Tyler, Amanda, Rebecca, Moira (Tom Dexter-Rice), Kelsey Widmeier (Andrew), Will, Joey, Lilah, and Isa.
Bill was predeceased by his brother Gary Goodwin.
Bill graduated Bishop Egan High School in 1960. He was a true scholar athlete lettering in Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Track. He attended Steubenville College on a full academic scholarship. While there he met the love of his life Mary, and they embarked on their 62 year story of love and family.
Bill was an avid baseball fan and coach. He served the community of Delran with more than 15 years of coaching the 12yr old Del Val Travel baseball team and serving as the Commissioner of Baseball for the Delran Athletic Association. Many of his greatest friendships and memories were as a result of his devotion to baseball and the Delran community.
Bill was a retired clerk for Conrail, after his retirement, Bill was a school bus driver for the Delran and Lawnside school district.
He took great joy in being a constant fixture at his grandchildren's sporting events throughout the years. He frequented many Delran High School Baseball games and was extremely proud when his grandson became Head Coach. His greatest life joy's were in 5 week trips taken each year to Aruba with Mary that extended for more than 30 years.
His family and friends will certainly miss him deeply.
Funeral services and urn burial at Lakeview Memorial Park will be private for the family.
