Bill Sr. was a second dad to those of us junior FFs that joined CFD in the 70s. He taught us training and practice, service, and camaraderie. Like an NFL coaching tree, we branched out to other towns and states taking our skills with us. His legacy spread to us and though us to others - many are benefitting today without knowing the original source. Long live that legacy.
We bought our house in 1987. Bill reviewed the builder’s contract and attended the purchase closing with us. We still remember the stack of papers, the questioning looks on our faces, and his gentle guidance to “keep signing unless I stop you.” The mortgage has stopped but the memories continue. Thanks Bill.
