William P. Masterson's Obituary
William Paul Masterson passed away suddenly on June 4, 2018 at his home in Moorestown, NJ. Born in Camden, Billy was 69 years old.
Billy was the youngest child in a Loving Irish Catholic family. His childhood nickname was "Boogie" after his brother could not pronounce Billy. This may contribute to his colorful nicknames given to multiple family members later in life. He graduated Camden Catholic High School where he received honors for wrestling. As a young artist, Billy was looking to attend art school before being drafted to the Vietnam War where he served in the Army from 1968- 1970. He received an honorable discharge and was awarded a Purple Heart. He felt a great sense of pride from his service and this pride carried through toward the end of his life. He was always wearing his Vietnam Vet hat.
He was known for his shenanigans, to live life on the wild side and have a quirky sense of humor. Even his cooking style was a reflection of this. His crazy kitchen concoctions were unnerving, but somehow managed to taste delicious... most of the time. His baked macaroni and cheese (with ketchup) will surely be missed. Although Billy always had jokes, he was also known to be a deep conversationalist who left a lasting impression on those he spoke to. Uncle Billy was known to be to coolest, having taking his nieces on motorcycle rides and even to their first concerts. Family was incredibly important to him. He was extremely proud of his children and especially of his granddaughter. Pop's bedroom wall was covered with her artwork.
He was a lover of old movies, fishing, and playing solitaire. He was a deeply spiritual man and it wasn't uncommon to find him reading or sending daily bible quotes.
Billy was the son of Luke Masterson & Margaret Masterson. Billy was previously married to Kathleen Marinelli (2nd wife) and Cecilia Perez (1st wife). His children include Christopher Masterson, Joann Masterson, & Erica Masterson. His grandchild is Abigail Masterson. Billy is survived by his brother James Masterson and his sister Kathleen Manzo. Billy was preceded in death by siblings Margaret Jones, Thomas Masterson, Marcela Masterson.
