William Menzel's Obituary
William (Bill) Joseph Menzel, 90, died peacefully at his home in Cinnaminson on Monday, August 6, 2018.
Born August 16, 1927 in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania and raised in Philadelphia, Bill became a resident of Cinnaminson, New Jersey in 1970.
He attended Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia and upon graduation enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served as a Radar Man on the USS Filmore and the USS Wyandot. His service took him from Pearl Harbor to the Arctic Circle and points in between.
After his service he met and married the love of his life, Lorraine Angela Tulina, who predeceased him in 2005 after fifty-four years of marriage. During their early years together, Bill received a Bachelors of Engineering from Drexel University. He went on to work in that field until his retirement at the age of 62. Never one to be idle, he attained his electrical license and ran his own business until the age of 71.
Bill was a proud parishioner of Saint Charles Borromeo, where he ushered for twenty-eight years and served as Eucharistic Minister for sixteen. He represented St. Charles on the Tri-boro Council of Churches for nine years and served as President of the Council for two terms.
As a life long Philadelphia sports fan, Bill was overjoyed to see his Eagles take the Super Bowl in 2018. In his later years he became an avid reader. He was known to read a book a day, except when the Phillies were playing.
He is survived by his daughters, grandsons, nieces, nephews and countless friends. He will be loved and missed always.
A memorial service followed by a Mass will be held on Saturday, August 25th at Saint Charles Borromeo at 10:00 am.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Stroke Association www.stroke.org
