Willoughby Drayson Silvera's Obituary
Willoughby Silvera migrated to the United States in the late 1960's from Kingston Jamaica. He was always business savvy and began his career as an accountant for Wakefern Food Corporation in Elizabeth NJ. He made a living as an accountant with Wakefern for years and finally left the corporation to practice accounting in South Jersey with Capital Planning Institute. Willoughby realized that he wanted to have his own accountant firm and became the CEO/Founder of his private practice Silvera & Associates.
Willoughby Silvera was a lover of the Lord and desired to pursue his bachelor's of Theology while he was the assistant Pastor at Bethel AME Church in Cookstown NJ. He felt it was never too late to pursue education and graduated from Liberty University in Virginia with a 4.0 GPA. Reverend Willougbhy Silvera continued to be an assistant Pastor at Bethel AME Church and would travel to several churches as a visiting pastor in the Tri-state area. He is the founder of Touch by God Ministries and envisioned this platform as a ministry base that will draw all ages and races to the Lord through community fellowship, faithfulness and seeking God in all aspects of life. He was a faithful giver to several charities to include some of his favorite charities such as The United States Navy Memorial whose mission is to honor the men and women of the United States Navy; St. Jude Children's Hospital whose mission is to advance cures and prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases; International Fellowship of Christians and Jews Charity which was founded to promote understanding, cooperation and respect between Christians and Jews.
He is finally at peace from hurt and pain. His invigorating laughter will leave an imprint forever on our hearts and souls. A husband, who loved his “Carolyn”, a father, who loved his children, a grandfather who enjoyed being called “Pop Pop,” and a friend to many who knew him. He left a legacy on God’s earth through his children and grandchildren for generations to come. They can each look up in the sky and someday understand why God reached out his arms and carried his son home to rest.
He leaves to cherish and honor his memory: his wife Carolyn Silvera; daughters: Marcia Silvera, Delores Charles, Janet Silvera, Annetta Silvera, Wanda Davis, Marcy Thomas, Carla Silvera ,Maggie Turner; Sons: Willoughby Drayson Silvera II (Bird), Fred Thomas (Kareen) Jermaine Silvera; Siblings: Osmond Silvera, Jasnit Silvera, Yvonne Bramwell and Audrey Oddman, two aunts Dulcie Gordon, Doroty Turner and a host of grands, great grands, nieces ,nephews, cousins and friends.
