Arlene Marie DeTone's Obituary
Arlene Marie DeTone of Marlton, New Jersey, passed away in her home on Saturday, September 14th, 2019. She was born in South Philadelphia to Anthony and Marie Cona. Arlene was 63 years old upon her passing.
Arlene loved the shore and spent many summers at Brigantine Beach with her family and friends. Summers in Brigantine were a constant for her as she attended and graduated from Yeadon High School in 1974 and earned a business degree from the University of Delaware in 1979. She would continue to enjoy trips to the shore throughout her life. In 1990, she met Jeffrey DeTone, whom she married two years later. They had two children together and, despite their eventual separation, remained life long friends. In 2005 Arlene earned a Master’s Degree from Widener University and embarked on a career in education. She devoted herself to her work as an educator and to her children. Arlene enjoyed many activities, including traveling, interior decorating, and dancing. She loved animals and was especially fond of her cats. A lively spirit, she was always open to new experiences, whether riding on the back of a motorcycle, attending a drum circle, or trying her hand at pickleball and kayaking.
Arlene is cherished and survived by her son, Justin, and her daughter, Rachel. She is also survived by her former husband and friend, Jeffrey; and by her loving siblings: Diane Vendette (Vincent), Peter Cona (Diane), and Barbara Amone (Ronald); and by her nieces and nephews: Alexis Krauza (David), David Vendette, Jessica Myers (Joseph), Alana DeTone, Kyra DeTone, Tim Wills-DeTone, Christopher Cona, Miles DeTone, Michael Cona, and Quinten Amone; as well as her great niece Anya Krauza and great nephew David Krauza.
The family will be Holding services for Arlene privately.
Justin and Rachel meant the world to Arlene and their education was paramount to her. In that spirit, the family is establishing a scholarship fund in their behalf as Justin attends Stevens Institute of Technology and Rachel attends Rochester Institute of Technology. Donations to the scholarship can be made in lieu of flowers and directed to the funeral home, at Givnish of Marlton, 398 E. Main St., Marlton, NJ 08053, in the family’s name.
