B. David Thornton's Obituary
B. David “Dave” Thornton passed away peacefully on October 12, 2021. He was 69 years old.
Dave was a loving husband, the best father, the silliest poppop and the dearest friend.
He was born on February 6, 1952 in Syracuse, NY. Dave was a 1970 graduate of Holy Cross High School in Delran, NJ and then went on to Temple University where he played 4 years of baseball and made it to the 1972 College World Series.
Dave’s greatest love was his family, followed closely by Pepsi, Beer and Baseball. He is also a long time member of Tavistock Country Club. Dave spent most of his time and devotion towards his family’s business, South Jersey Welding Supply Co.
Anyone that was lucky enough to know Dave can affirm that he was a quiet, private man, who kept small company, but was everyone's best company.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Karen E. (Nestel); his cherished children, Julie Thornton (Keith Chewning), David L. Thornton (Stacy E. nee Merkle), Holly Corsanico, Michelle Thornton, and his “hero”/forever son, Tom Corsanico; his adoring Grandchildren, Kasey, Emily, Molly & Taya Thornton; Anna, Tommy, Eva, & Vinny Corsanico; Micah Dylan Turner, Meghan, Jackson & Brandon Chewning; and his dear siblings, Robert V. Thornton Jr., JoAnna Meader, Maureen Bickmore, & Judy Thornton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will miss him tremendously.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, on Sunday evening, October 17th, from 6 pm to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held privately for his family.
** Masks will be optional, but the family does ask that everyone be mindful of social distancing. Thank you for your understanding. **
