Barry Norman Kotler's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Barry Norman Kotler, age 81, of Moorestown, who transitioned on May 31, 2024.
Barry was born on December 23, 1942, to Frank and Shirley Kotler in Newark, NJ. He spent his formative years in Hillside, NJ, graduating from Hillside High School in 1961. Barry pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Jersey College and a Master’s in Arts from Kean College.
His dedication to education led him to a fulfilling career as a history teacher at Manville Public Schools, where he shared his passion for history with students for over 25 years. Barry's commitment to teaching extended beyond the classroom, as he made it his mission to reach every child and instill in them a love for learning.
Barry was not only a devoted educator but also a loving family man. He raised his family in North Plainfield, NJ, where he was affectionately known as the "ice cream man" for his summer job driving an ice cream truck. Upon retirement, Barry settled in Seaside Heights, NJ, where he indulged his passions for collecting sports and historical memorabilia and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of buying and selling at flea markets.
Known for his vibrant personality and infectious sense of humor, Barry could effortlessly brighten anyone's day with his laughter and wit. He will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Barry was the beloved husband of the late Susan Kotler, loving father of Alis Panzera (Paul) and Joel Kotler (Kim), cherished grandfather of Nick, Chris, Matthew, Meghan, Ethan, and Evan, brother of David Kotler (Cecilia), and dear friend of Ashley at Brandywine.
A celebration of Barry's life will be held at the Panzeras, 897 Heritage Rd in Moorestown on June 5th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. To honor Barry's spirit, the family asks visitors to wear T-shirts that reflect his vibrant personality and zest for life.
Barry's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his joy, laughter, and love.
