Bernard M. Turowski's Obituary
Bernard M. Turowski passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Virtua Hospital in Willingboro. Born in Philadelphia to Matthew and Stella Turowski, Bernie was 73 years old. He was a resident of Cinnaminson for the last 47 years. Beloved husband of 47 years to Lorraine T. (née Gurbada) Turowski. Loving father of David Bernard (Elizabeth) Turowski and Jason Bernard Turowski. Cherished Grandpop of John, Lucy and Ben. Loving son of Stella and the late Matthew Turowski. Brother of Joan Haldis and Cynthia Zimmer. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
Bernie received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University, his master of science degree in systems engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and was employed over 40 years with Lockheed Martin in Moorestown. He was a recipient of the David Sarnoff Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement. His brilliance and decades of service as an engineering program manager will forever be remembered.
Bernie was an avid toy train enthusiast, cherishing his many American Flyer Train platforms he built and operated with his sons and grandchildren through the years. Bernie was a talented musician, able to play both the base guitar and accordion, he was a member of several Polish American bands and produced numerous records through the years with friends and family, paying tribute to his Polish American heritage. He loved classic automobiles including his 1996 Chevy Impala SS, his 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP, but none more than his 1968 Pontiac GTO. He enjoyed vacationing in Wildwood Crest and LBI, waiting all year to have that time down the shore with his family, enjoying the beach, the boardwalk, and the delicious food.
Most importantly, Bernie loved spending time with his family. His family meant everything to him, he worked hard for them, he loved them and cherished them every day of his life. He was a strong, quiet, peaceful, kind gentleman who taught us want it meant to be a father, husband, and a good man. We will miss you but we will never forget you and how you impacted our lives. May you now rest in peace after the many years you fought your battle with cancer.
