Calvin N. Hartz's Obituary
Calvin Norton Hartz, 95, of Whiting, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022. Devoted husband to Bessie Hartz (Carroll) for 73 years. Dear father to Judy Cherry (Kurt), Ken Hartz and the late Jeanne Goddard (Jeff). Pop Pop to Laura Reyes (Marcos), Jeremy Goddard, Jacob Cherry (Corinne), Bradley Cherry, Alex Hartz, Gabrielle Foerter (Jacob), Emmeline Hartz and the late Aaron Goddard. Great grandfather to Elena, Gian Marco, Tulio, Evan, Riley, Levi, Collin, Mason and Leo. He was predeceased by his siblings; Theresa Hartz, Eleanor Landes, Warren Hartz Jr., and Richard Hartz.
Calvin proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army, 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters. After serving in the military, he worked as a Foreman for Dick Greenfield Dodge in Lawrenceville, NJ, before his retirement. Calvin was a charter member of Shadyrest Bible Church (currently Fellowship CrossPoint Church), serving as a trustee and deacon for many years, and headed up the Golden Rays senior ministry as well. Calvin will be remembered by his devotion to his faith, his patriotism and love of his family.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Tuesday, January 18th at Fellowship CrossPoint Church, 187 Crosswicks Chesterfield Rd, Chesterfield, NJ 08515, from 10:30- 11:30am with his funeral service beginning at 11:30am. Burial to follow at the Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Calvin’s name may be made to the Church listed above
