I met Carolyn Capone in art class at MHSH, and we became friends immediately. It was a true, genuine friendship that began in our high school days and lasted a lifetime. We continued to spend time together and share incredible experiences as we grew up. Even years later, when I moved out of New Jersey, we would still talk on the phone for hours, picking up right where we left off.
When a very close friend of ours passed away, I couldn’t afford to fly back for his funeral. Without hesitation, Carolyn insisted that I come and paid for my plane ticket—no questions asked. That was who she was. Carolyn was one of my true friends. We used to say we were ride or die.
There is so much more I could say about what an amazing friend she was—how humble she was, and most of all, how honest. I will miss her terribly, forever. Last month, I was calling and texting Carolyn to catch up due to a life event, expecting her to call me back like she always did. I wondered why she hadn’t—but now I understand.
She was a beautiful soul and my best friend.
Rest in peace, Carolyn. I love you always.
Until we meet again.
