I just want to tell Dan's family how sorry I am to hear of his passing, Also add how sorry I am to have missed his memorial service due to circumstances beyond my control.
I worked with Dan for many years. First at the Bulletin as a copyboy and later as a reporter for Channel 3 News. As a journalist Dan was brilliant and hard working. As a press secretary he was helpful, courteous and kind.
When my daughter was a freshman at Catholic University and looking for an internship I asked Dan if there were any openings in Senator Spector's office. He helped her get her first job in politics and now more than twenty years later she is a major fundraiser for the Republican Governors' Association and has had a remarkable career thanks to Dan's efforts in getting her started.
I don't have to tell his family what a gentleman he was and what a good example he set for everyone he met.
The world will miss a proud son of Philadelphia and I will miss a man I respected for more than 40 years. God Bless Dan McKenna and his family.
Sincerely,
Robin Mackintosh
I worked with Dan in Arlen Specter's office and I have the fondest memories of this fine gentleman. In the crazy Senate office atmosphere, he was a rock. He was such a gentleman and I adored him. He would say to me "My that's a lovely frock you are wearing today." No one else I know used the word "frock", especially in our Senate office. I will miss him terribly and am deeply saddened to know of his death. My deepest sympathy to Sandy and all of Dan's family. Karen Royden Linett
