Effie Arntz's Obituary
Effie Arntz passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at her son’s residence in Cinnaminson. Born in Philadelphia to John and Effie Meenan, Effie was 79 years old. Beloved wife of 34 years to John Arntz and the late Robert Zell. Loving mother of John D. Zell (Flor Marina Zell) and step son Robert Zell. Cherished grandmother of Makayla Mia and John Alexander Zell. Sister of the late John Meenan and Thomas Meenan.
Also surviving are Effie’s niece and nephews John, Michelle and Steven Meenan.
Effie graduated Frankford High School in 1962 and later received her bachelor’s degree from Temple University after initially attending Penn State.
Effie was a retired Philadelphia Police woman, she was the owner of Effie’s Place a Bar in Philadelphia and retired as senior probation officer for the Superior Court in Mt. Holly in 2017 after 29 years.
Effie enjoyed spending time in Sea Isle City with friends and family where she could be found electrifying the dance floor with her friends. Most importantly Effie cherished spending time with her grandchildren. There was no dog on Earth that did not fall deeply in love with Effie as she was always kind to animals.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Effie’s Memorial Mass on Saturday August 5th 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church Branch Pike and Pomona Road Cinnnaminson. Friends should arrive by 10:45 a.m.
Memorial contributions in Effie’s name may be made to Animal Welfare to include the Burlington County Animal Alliance and/or Tunnel to Towers.
