I became Frances's daughter-in-law in 1963 when I was 17, a very young 17. Her wisdom guided me when I had no wisdom of my own. Her generosity knew no bounds. She provided for my children and myself all that I could not afford. Her kindness and that of Aunt Kay and Carol & Tim showed itself every day in so many ways. I always thought I would care for her in her old age, but God had other plans. Now that she is in heaven, she finally knows the depth of my love and gratitude. I loved her laughter. I can still hear her. I'll close with a story, and perhaps you'll hear her too. She called me one day and told me she didn't think I should allow Denise to play with this little boy Jimmy, and that he was bad, he hit her and played in the street, etc., etc. When she was done, I said "Mom, he's make pretend, and so is Billy" (another playmate she'd heard about). She didn't say anything for a moment, then "WHAAAT!!!!" She laughed so hard for so long, and I'm sure she laughed every time she told the story to others. Hers was such a valuable life.
