Frances Helen Lieberum's Obituary
Frances Helen Lieberum (nee Meng), of Maple Shade, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home on December 22, 2022.
Frances is predeceased by her beloved Mom and Pop, Mary (nee Sweeney) and Rudolph Meng, siblings Mary “Dot” Berkstresser, Catherine “Kay” Maurer, Herman “Pete” Meng and Joseph “Joe” Meng, as well as the love of her life, Leonard Slock.
Fran was the beloved mother of Jeremiah Lieberum (Donna), dear former mother-in-law of Catherine Lieberum, and treasured Grandmom to Edward Lieberum (Eileen Cloke), Rhonda Lieberum (John Bakos), Susan Lieberum (the late Robert Cellucci), Denise Avellino (Raffaele), Brandy Kraemer, the late Jason Kraemer, and Erica Lieberum.
She was the great-grandmother of Martha Stanton (Rich), Sandra Cellucci and Michael Cellucci, and the great-great-grandmother of Max, Allen, and Marji Stanton.
She was also the much-adored aunt of Susan Eisenhardt, Nancy Gabrielson, Wayne Meng, the many beloved children of her late dear sister-in-law Alicia Williams, and the late Conrad Maurer, Jr., Joseph Meng, Jr., Jerry Meng, and Carol Sinck. Many more great-nieces and -nephews, extended family members, adopted family, and dear friends will miss her warmth, humor, and love tremendously.
A devoted daughter, Frances arranged her credits to graduate high school at 16 so that she could go to work to help support her family. After 34 years with Bell Telephone, she retired as Chief Operator, but kept busy by volunteering for over 20 years in the Recovery ward of Virtua Mount Holly Hospital, and by working at Merchantville’s famed collectibles shop, The Gift Gallery. In between, she enjoyed family get-togethers, time at her sister’s country home in Pittsgrove, a good mystery, her canine companion for 18 years (“Buddy”), the Rosary, and Saturday evening Mass. An incurable parish-hopper, she attended Mass all over South Jersey, but faithfully supported her home parish of OLPH in Maple Shade. She never missed a family occasion, a milestone, or a chance to help her family.
She will be remembered every day by those who love her for her steadfast, selfless love, her generosity, her wisdom, her wit, and the innumerable blessings God provided through her.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 236 E. Main Street, Maple Shade, on Tuesday, January 3rd, from 10 am to 11 am. Her funeral Mass will begin at 11 am, followed by interment in Colestown Cemetery, 100 Kings Hwy North, Cherry Hill, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frances may be made to The Franciscans’ St. Francis Inn, 2441 Kensington Ave., Phila., PA 19125 (“the mission”).
