George was a member of St. Paul’s Vegetarian Ministry. He and Maryellen drove to our Princeton gatherings from their home in Delran- over 40 miles! Always generous and cheerful , they brought carefully prepared contributions to our pot luck dinners. He will be missed. Our condolences to Maryellen and the family.
George was a great help during our SJREIA meetings. He would unpack vehicles, set up equipment and anything else we needed. When we went out after the meeting, I always had to check with him to see what he could eat. Vegetarian! Great guy and easy going. Sorry to hear of his passing.
Jinny Hurley (former secretary/treasurer to SJREIA)
I wish peace and comfort to Mrs. Zitzler and family! George was a colleague of mine at HHS -- he was patriotic and funny (with stories of his time in the Navy) -- he was always patient with his students -- he was kind and helpful to me in the Business Department. My prayers are with your family! Respectfully, Linda S. Petraglia
My condolences to Mrs. Zitzler and Family. I met George in 2017 when I became a member of the SJ Real Estate Investors Association. George would always help out at the main meetings and was such a genuine person who was always there to help. George spent a lot of time in our organization volunteering for anything he thought was a good cause. George will be missed by many and it is with heavy heart to bid farewell to such a good man.
May God Bless you my friend, rest well.

Mrs. Zitzler and family - George was a colleague of mine and fellow teacher at Hightstown High School for many years. One of the things I always admired about him was his willingness to go out of his way to help students achieve their very best. He never seemed to lose patience. The great poet Theodore Roethke once wrote that a good teacher must be sure that his students are not "warped, twisted, played upon, led to the stoney pasture." That was George, He led his students to the place were they could grow and thrive and be their best, Zitzler Family: I pray that the Lord will put down layers of peace in your hearts, and comfort you in the knowledge that George (PopPop) now walks with the King of Kings. George is home. Respectfully, Peg Van Patton HHS English Dept.
