Gertrude M. Maguire's Obituary
Gertrude M. Maguire, aged 94, formerly a resident of Landsdale, PA, peacefully passed away at her Hammonton, NJ home on December 20, 2023, surrounded by her adoring family.
Born on December 1, 1929, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Roberts (nee Rebl). Gertrude was the cherished spouse of the late James Frances Maguire for 67 years until his passing in 2021. She was a devoted mother to Marie Menn (the late David Menn), Diane Maguire (the late David Poplawski), Donna Maguire, Elaine McCormick (Tom), Francis Maguire (Sue), Carolyn Hearn (Joe), John Maguire, and the late Michael Maguire. Gertrude was a loving grandparent to 17 and a great-grandparent to 16. She is survived by her sisters Barbara Boehmke and Carolyn Miller. Her memory will live on in the hearts of numerous other relatives and friends.
Gertrude found solace and joy in tending to her garden at home, a place where she often spent her time. She held a deep affection for all Philadelphia sports teams, particularly the Phillies. Her family held a special place in her heart, often enjoying moments together working on puzzles. She had a passion for shopping and decorating her home. Her devout faith led her to attend daily mass. When unable to attend in person, she faithfully tuned in to the televised mass. Her generosity knew no bounds. She contributed significantly to charitable causes.
A gathering to honor Gertrude's life will be held on Friday, December 29th at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish, St. Joseph Church. 226 French Street, Hammonton, NJ 08037, from 10:30 to 11:30 am, followed by a memorial mass commencing at 11:30 am, where friends and family can pay their respects.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the above church in Gertrude's memory.
