Once when I was a kid, we went to her house to spend the night, and she took us grocery shopping first- when we got to the store she got this gleam in her eye and told us we could pick out anything we wanted. It blew my mind that I could get a box of Lucky charms and a Butterfinger and a bag of chips and a liter of soda and she just smiled and told me to get a little more. It was so impactful that she indulged me because we didn’t have a lot of money and she knew that I never got to experience anything like that. It was so simple and so kind and I’ve always remembered it.
Helen will be missed immensely by her neighbors! Our daughters always loved Helen's garden vegetables and how generous she always was when the girls sold lemonade outside. It will not be the same on carlton ave without you❤️🩹
