I came to Hainesport School in 1990, and James Warney was the first one to come to my classroom to greet me. He knew I had moved from another state and wasn't new to teaching, but still new. He told me to come to the teacher's room at lunchtime, that everything else I thought I should be doing could wait. When I arrived, he introduced me to everyone, had me sit next to him, and proceeded to tell wonderful stories about everything except teaching. He gave me the break and the smile I didn't even know I needed. I cherish the joy for others and life that he shared each day with everyone. With him in mind, I have tried to do the same for others. I thank him for over thirty years of "new."
