Rarely in your life do you meet a truly positive person.
My former student, colleague and friend Janis Kerrigan was one of those rare gems.
I first met Janis when she was a new student at Burlington County College. Immediately after her first class, she approached me to tell me how much she wanted to contribute to college newspaper.
Over the next few years she was the backbone of the paper and did anything that needed to be done to ensure the product was edited and distributed.
Later she came to work at the Burlington County Times and became one of my most valuable employees, never letting such a trivial thing (her words) as an oxygen tank, she had at her side, get in the way of doing her day-to-day work.
When my career was over at the BCT, it was Janis who wrote the most sincere letter I’ve ever received in my life.
I know how proud she was of her PhD. No one put more time and effort in getting that PhD than Janis.
She was one of a kind and she will be missed. There are not enough people in this world like her and I am saddened by her loss.
Rest in peace, friend. You made a difference in this world.
