My memories of John are from the several years we spent "battling" in grievance arbitrations. He represented labor organizations and their members, while I spoke for employers. What I most remember was his zealous advocacy on behalf of workers who had lost their jobs. John exemplified the Fourth Beatitude leaving no stone unturned in their defense, while always remaining a gentleman. John was, in short, an advocate who anyone would want on their side in troubled times.
He is a loss to the legal profession, as well as to his friends and family.
