John F. "Jay" Pilles Jr.'s Obituary
John F. “Jay” Pilles, Jr., of Marlton, NJ, formerly of Avenel, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2021. Born to the late John and Catherine Pilles, he was 67 years old.
Jay graduated from Notre Dame University with a JD degree. He was a lawyer for many years, owning the Law Office of John F. Pilles, Jr.in Lumberton, NJ. Jay was devout Catholic and gave his time and resources to his church, being a small groups leader, Eucharistic Minister, and involved in CCD. He lived his life with a joyful, loving, generous attitude.
Jay was the beloved husband of Karen (nee Grzenda) for 33 years. Cherished father of David Pilles, Sean Pilles, and Alexis Pilles (Mark Miner). Dear Uncle to Michael and Stefanie Pilles, Valerie and Justin Nietzel, and Paul Grzenda; cousin to Madeline Schwarz (Bill), and their children Kenny and Michael. Brother-in-law of Gregory (Tammy), Danny, and David Grzenda (Jennifer), Rachel Mohr, and Deborah Pilles. Son-in-law of Lois Grzenda. Nephew of Leighton Miller (Peggy). He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Pilles.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Givnish of Marlton, 398 East Main St., on Thursday evening April 22nd, from 6 – 9 pm. A brief prayer service will be held at 8 pm. His Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, April 23rd, at 11 am at St. Joan of Arc Parish, Marlton, followed by interment in Jesus, Bread of Life Cemetery, Fostertown Rd., Mount Laurel, NJ.
