John R. Gianvito's Obituary
John Richard Gianvito, 86, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength.
John was born on October 24, 1939 in Punxsutawney, PA, and later moved with his family to West Philadelphia, before settling in South Jersey. He proudly served his country in the United States military, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to duty and service. Following his military service, he built a long and successful career in administration with the Haddon Township School District, where he was respected for his leadership, reliability, and lasting contributions to the school community.
In his earlier years, John was a standout athlete at Rutgers University–Camden and was later inducted into the school’s Sports Hall of Fame, an honor that reflected his talent, dedication, and athletic achievement. He was so proud of that accomplishment.
John was devoted to his family. He was a loving father to Todd (spouse, Nicole), Lori (fiance, Drew), and Brian (spouse, Donna), and a proud grandfather to Nolan, Ty, Brynn, Ryan, Austin and Addison. His family was the center of his life, and he found his greatest joy in spending time with them. He will be remembered for his steady presence, kindness, and unwavering support.
A passionate Philadelphia sports fan, John rarely missed a game. His loyalty to his teams brought him joy throughout his life and created many lasting memories with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Todd, Lori, and Brian; his grandchildren, Brynn, Nolan, Austin, Ty, Ryan, and Addison; and his daughters-in-law Nicole and Donna, and many loving relatives and friends.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's viewing on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, from 11am - 1pm, followed by a funeral ceremony at 1pm in Givnish Funeral Homes, located at 398 E. Main Street, Marlton, NJ, 08053.John will be reunited with the love of his life, Joan, in Parkview Cemetery at Kirby's Mill, Medford, NJ.
