John D. Hoenig's Obituary
John D. Hoenig passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the Veterans Home in Vineland, NJ. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Adolph and Adeline, John was 81 years old. He was a resident of Marlton and formerly lived in Cinnaminson and Pennsauken.
Beloved husband of 56 years to Barbara Jayne (nee Price) Hoenig, loving father of Holly (Chris) Gallo and the late David Hoenig. Cherished grandfather of Lauren and Vincent Gallo. Brother of Elsie Carrick. Uncle to Pete (Tana) Cali, Louise (Robert) Sims and Anthony (Teri) Cali.
John proudly served his country in the US Marines. He served two tours in Vietnam and was a purple heart recipient. John took a leave of absence from the Church & the IRS to serve as a chaplain with the Red Cross at the 9/11 site to work with survivors.
He received his master’s degree from Moravian Seminary. John served as Pastor for many years at the Palmyra Moravian Church in Cinnaminson, as well as at the Third Moravian Church in Philadelphia.
Burial will be private at Ocean View Cemetery in Staten Island, NY.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21st at Wiley Church, 101 East Main Street, Marlton, NJ. Visitation starts at 9:15am / Service starts at 10:00am
