I wanted to share the 25 years of Joe's smiles and willingness to go out of his way to help things run smoothly at Penn Vet. He was a member of the Penn Vet family and will be missed, but you can know he touched many lives and his memory lives on.

My sincerest condolences to the McGrane family. The vet school quad feels empty without him, and I will really miss getting to take a break from a busy day to chat by his truck. He gave so many years of service, participating in the training of generations of veterinarians and creating meaningful memorials for those (myself included) who lost animal family members. He will be fondly remembered by many. Our thoughts are with you.
Dear McGrane family. I was so sorry to hear of Joe's passing and my sincere condolences for your loss. I first met Joe as a veterinary technician intern in 1979. I then often asked for his assistance when I entered the research field and needed help. Joe was always willing to assist and help out. When my office moved up to VHUP, Joe always had a smile, a wave, and a friendly hello whenever we saw each other and I came to enjoy those daily, brief salutations. I apologize for the lateness of my entry. I just learend today of Joe's passing. My name is Anthony Carty, and I am a Laboratory Animal Veterinarin at the University of Pennsylvania. I knew Joe since arriving here as a Staff Vet in 1999. We interacted both professionally and as friends throughout that time. No longer will I be able to stop by that big red truck of his and chat with him as I come and go throughout the day. Joe was always warm and always had a kind word for me, and me for him. I will miss my friend. My condolences to his family and to all of those who loved him.

Their is a great hope held out to us for the future because God promises to bring those we lost back to life by means of a resurrection to a paradise earth, where sickness and death will be no more. I am so sorry for your loss. I did not know Joe personally but his son and daughter in law at Paws to Heaven were an integral part of my practice over the years. Always treating me and my clients with dignity and respect, something I am sure was learned from Joe.
