Joseph F. Purcell's Obituary
Joseph F. Purcell, 88, of Moorestown, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2020. Joe epitomized the American dream. Born in Heckshersville, PA, he served in the United States Coast Guard. He then moved to Philadelphia and entered the used car business. His passion for cars ultimately led to his founding of Cherry Hill Toyota. In his spare time he enjoyed his family, travel, tennis, watching Jeopardy and following the stock market.
Joe was a loving husband to Louise Messick. Dear father to Stephen Purcell and his spouse Tanya Ermolovich; Dianna Castner and her spouse Peter; Christopher Purcell and his spouse Donald Cattell; Joseph Purcell and his spouse Kerry; and Scott Messick and his spouse Nicole. Loving grandfather of Katie, John, Sara, Rae, Audrey, Ryan, Leigha, and Jenna. Great-grandfather to Charlie, Henry, Gussie, Annie, Vivi and Ian. Preceded in death by wife Joan (nee Zalesky).
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, January 31st from 7 to 9 pm at Givnish of Maple Shade, 600 E. Main Street, and again on Saturday, February 1st from 10 am to 11 am with his funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Colestown Cemetery in Cherry Hill.
