Joseph F. Skahan III's Obituary
Joseph F. Skahan III "Bulldog" passed away suddenly on May 29, 2015 at his residence in Cinnaminson, NJ. Born in Philadelphia, Joe was 74 years old. He was a resident of Cinnaminson for 45 years. Formerly of Medford Lakes, NJ. Joe retired as a Boatswain Mate Master Chief from the US Navy in 1978, after 20 years of service. During his service, Joe was in charge of the US Naval Honor Guard under President Carter. He performed many Military Honor presentations at the Arlington National Cemetery. Joe also was a tugboat operator for the Philadelphia Naval Yard.
Joe was also employed as a corrosive engineer for Basic Commerce Industries Inc. (BCI) of Moorestown, NJ. He was formerly employed as a corrosive engineer for J.J. Henry and George Sharpe. Joe was a 1959 graduate of Rancocas Valley Regional High School.
Beloved husband of 53 years to Barbara Anne (nee Walter). Loving father of Lisa M. (Tom) Byrne, Laurie A. (Phil) Villari, Eileen M. (Stephen) Cassano and Joseph F. IV (Tracy).
Devoted grandfather of Michael, Christopher, BM2,USN, Phillip, Alexandra, Olivia, Sophia, Lilly and Clayton. Son of Eleanor and the late Joseph F. Skahan, Sr. Brother-in-law of Christine and Guido Lure, the late Mary (Anthony) Schiappa, Xavier and Anne Walter.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews and especially his good friend Captain Dean M. Krestos, Ret. US Navy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joe's Life Celebration gathering Thursday Eve 6-9 p.m. and Friday 9-10 a.m. at Snover/Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North. His Funeral Mass will follow 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church 103 4th St. Riverton, NJ 08077.
