Kathleen Marie Oakes (nee McCarthy), of Newark, DE, passed away on September 7, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Thomas and Marie (nee Saile) McCarthy, she was 89 years old. Kathleen was predeceased by her daughter, Lis Read Obituary
Kathy was a very good friend of my wife when we first met back in 1992, and was with us a number of times at events during the early years of our relationship. She was then at our wedding, even helped Deb at our home while she was getting ready on our wedding day. As a couple, Deb & I enjoyed Kathy’s annual Christmas holiday parties for a few years even after getting married. As often happens, we drifted physically apart. Hadn’t seen her in 15-20 years. But thanks to Facebook and Instagram, we were able to stay in touch. Deb & I will always hold a special place in our hearts for Kath from those early days of our time together. I know we will see her again one day in God’s glory. God bless and heal her family after this loss. 🙏🏻💓
