Leo A. Carr
Passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at his home in Cinnaminson with his wife by his side. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Leo was 83 years old. He was a resident of Cinnaminson since 1967.
He was the beloved husband of Nancy (nee Reilly) for 56 years; loving father of Cathy, Susie (Rob) Morneau, Patty (Ken) Dyke, Teresa (Ron) White and the late Sean (Nicole) Carr; proud grandfather of James, Jennifer and Matthew East; Kelly, Lauren, Kevin and Ryan Dyke; Andrew and Bryan White; great-grandfather of Caroline Weaver; and loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Kathleen Krotowski and was predeceased by his sister Marguerite Denneny.
Leo proudly served in the US Army, after graduating from Saint Joseph’s University. He loved teaching students of all ages, obtained his Master’s Degree in Education and devoted 37 years to teaching students in the Cinnaminson School District. He believed in serving his community and parish, and throughout his years in Cinnaminson, Leo served on the Township Committee, Board of Fire Commissioners, and was a volunteer guide at Carpenters’ Hall in Philadelphia. Leo was an active member of Sacred Heart Church, and served on the Tri-boro Council of Churches. Until his death, Leo was a member of the Palmyra-Riverton- Cinnaminson Lions Club for over 40 years, having served terms as secretary, president and editor of the newsletter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Leo’s Life Celebration and viewing Thursday 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 103 4th St, Riverton, NJ 08077. His Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rutgers University Foundation Sean P. Carr Memorial Scholarship and mailed to Sean Carr Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Steven Miller, 4 Huntington Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
