Mary Ellen Bonner's Obituary
Mary Ellen Bonner (nee McLaughlin) passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025 in Voorhees, New Jersey surrounded by loving family. The daughter of the late Elizabeth (Boland) and Peter McLaughlin, she was a resident of Rockville Centre, New York for over 50 years, and spent the later part of her life in Manchester (Leisure Village West) and Marlton, New Jersey. She was 90 years old.
Mary Ellen was the beloved wife of the late Stanley D. Bonner, Jr. for 52 years and the devoted mother of eight children: Ellen-Marie, Valerie, Stanley, Elizabeth, Christopher, Stephanie, Brian, and Mary Katherine; three daughters-in-law: Tiffany, Beth Ann, and Cheryle (deceased); three sons-in-law: Richard, Kyle, and Christopher; twelve grandchildren: Michael, Laura, Alyssa, Matthew, Jack, Lily, Olivia, Owen, Charlotte, John Douglas (JD), Grace and Christopher, Jr.; and three great-grandchildren: Tyler, Olivia, and Cassidy. She was the dear sister of John McLaughlin and was predeceased by her siblings Peter, Elizabeth, and Thomas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her greatly.
With her husband, Stan, Mary Ellen raised her family in Rockville Centre where she was an active member of St. Agnes Cathedral parish, serving on and chairing the Parents Council for St. Agnes Elementary School and Kellenberg Memorial High School. She and her husband were committed and passionate volunteers for various political and pro-life organizations. After her children were raised, Mary Ellen became a licensed insurance agent for Allstate. An avid reader, she loved to discuss philosophy, literature, and current events. She was also an extraordinary listener, always ready with a smile and words of encouragement to help find the bright side. Most of all, her Catholic faith and love of family were central to her life and she shared both with all she met.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Givnish of Marlton, 398 East Main Street, on Monday, January 6 from 6pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 7 at 11am at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 27 Kresson-Gibbsboro Road, Gibbsboro, New Jersey. Interment will be on Wednesday, January 8 at 10am at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, New Jersey.
