I just found out this sad news now of Nick's passing. While I didn't know him well, I can say that back at St. Annie's in the 80s, nobody was cooler and more admired by his peers than Nicky Condodina. Super nice guy to all, what a loss. Prayers and condolences to his family.

We were greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Nicky Condodina. As longtime friends of the Condodinas we shared many fun times with them. Our children were of the same age and always enjoyed seeing each other. If I remember correctly, the last time we saw Nicky was at Andrea's wedding and I believe he was a proud Father of his second child. Nick and I go back to his days at Showorks.
We all know how passionate Nick was, especially about sports and specifically the Phillies.
I’ll never forget, back in the mid-2000’s the Phillies spent a few years wandering in the Wild Card Wilderness. Year after year it seemed our hometown nine came up just short of making the playoffs. There was no doubt in Nick’s mind as to the cause of our collective civic distress. He laid ALL the blame on the man from Boona Vista, Mr. Charlie Fuqua Manuel. Every one of Nick’s emails ended with the same exasperated signature: Long Live Charlie Manuel.
We met up at the ballpark somewhere about this time when my son Brad was still in Middle School. For some reason Nick had an extra seat next to him and Brad was happy to be away from the rest of his embarrassing family. Nick instantly became the coolest guy Brad had ever met, especially when he hipped his friend the Phanavision Camera guy to put the two of them up on the Monster Ballpark Video Screen.
I never asked, I assume he came around to liking Uncle Charlie by the time the manager rode by wearing an impeccably tailored three piece suit during the parade down Broad Street.
