I only worked with Richard for a short time at NISH but what an impression he made on me. Not only was he a character but he was a man of character - sharing his knowledge, his experiences both professional and personal, always with selfless generosity. I was so impressed with Richard that I insisted that my son Steven meet him. Richard entertained Steven with his life stories peppered throughout our lunch. My favorite stories from Richard were his Hawaiian honeymoon (with his lovely wife Patt, John Wayne and Lee Cobb) and stories of his father and the family business. I am thankful that such a man as Richard touched my life with his warmth, caring and generous spirit. My condolences to the Millilo family and my gratitude for having my life touched by such a wonderful gentle lion of a man.

Rich was one of those wonderful individuals we are rarely blessed to meet in life…..he was a mentor, friend and father figure. His love of his family and God was unlike anyone else I have met in my travels. He was also a hilarious storyteller, never telling one twice, and always with his comedic theatrical style that we all loved. All that worked with Rich knew of his passion of teaching, helping and always seeking to make a positive difference; all for the sole purpose of making life better for the men and women of our armed services. My husband and I extend the sincerest of condolences to his family and friends. I for one, will always smile when I remember him……..what a wonderful legacy to leave?

Steve,

Sadly I never met your father, I never walked a business or personal path with him, I will never have the opportunity to talk to him on earth about one of his most favorite subjects, you. Although I never knew your father Steve I do know you. I know your caring and sharing ways, your motivation to ensure excellence, ensure all are happy, ensure all are so glad to see you and hear from you every day. I also know you are a great reflection and mirror of your great father. Always willing, able and heartfelt in business and at home for all who surround and envelope around your bright caring light.

I will always be thankful to your wonderful father Richard who together with your mom make the earth much better from their own heartfelt contributions, from the beautiful children they brought from heaven to cherish, to energize and to smile with so many. God bless your wonderful father Richard and we all look forward to seeing him and smiling with him in heaven where I know he has also risen. For me, I look forward to seeing him in heaven and telling him about a son who contributes so much to us all in the light, heart and bright shadow of his beautiful and wonderful father.
