Robert C. Lightfoot passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 26, 2022. Bob, age 85, was born in Philadelphia to Albert and Elizabeth Lightfoot. He was a resident of Marlton, NJ since 1970. Beloved husband of 61 years to Carol Read Obituary
I wish I was in Philadelphia so that I could get photos from storage that my mother, Jessie Lightfoot Permar, took over the years. She was very proud of the fact Bob played in the Kensington String Band, and I remember with fondness watching TV every New Year's Day and waiting to watch them play, and then waiting for the results. A few from the Band came to play one evening at her assisted living residence and she was quick to ask them about Bob. As I don't live in the area, I didn't have much opportunity to hear him play but I did enjoy the performance at the family gathering my mother organised to celebrate her brother Clark's life, probably in about 1999.
I worked with Bob at the Frankfort Arsenal long ago, far longer than I wish to remember. He had just come off active duty and we became lifelong friends. The day prior to Bobs death I said to my wife, I wonder how Bobs doing? I should give him a ring. An opportunity missed!
