Samantha Bove's Obituary
Samantha Cristina Bove, born 31 years ago, bravely battled cancer for four months before passing away on June 14, 2022. She was surrounded, supported and cared for by her loving family from diagnosis to her final moments.
Sam was a woman of uncompromising independence and deep convictions. Her family would describe her as fierce, adventurous and passionate, She lived her life fearlessly and on unequivocal terms. She was courageous and could swim against the strongest social currents. Sam spoke her mind, but more importantly, listened to her own voice. Even though Sam marched to the beat of her own drum, it did not come at the expense of her loved ones and friends. Sam was as kind and loving as she was unfettered. Regardless of how dire Sam’s health was, she was always concerned with how her family and friends felt. Even though her family was taking care of her in her final months – it often felt like she was taking care of them. Her calm temperament and stoicism had the ability to comfort family and friends in the darkest of days.
Sam was known for her nomadic ways. She moved to Portland, OR about 10 years ago, and fell in love with the Pacific northwest. She would often take off on a moment’s notice in her car with her dog, Nora. She and Nora loved long walks, hiking and camping. She was a lover of all things culinary, especially home-cooked meals. She loved her mom’s mac & cheese and her grandmother’s spaghetti and meatballs with GRAVY and chicken cutlets.
Sam was a force in the hospitality industry, working as a bar back, hostess, waitress, chef and bartender. Ask any of her co-workers, and they will tell you she was the hardest working person on the job. She most recently honed her skills in the craft cocktail world at “The Rum Bar” in Portland. Her favorite drink was a daiquiri and anything Mango. Sam was also a lover of music. Her top playlist consisted of Vundabar, Mike Krol, The Frights, Kayne West and MF Doom.
Sam was a true example of a strong woman who lived her life fearlessly and true, without retreat.
Sam is survived by her loving family: mother Debra Tasca Bove, father and step-mother, Richard and Sherry Bove, brothers and sisters Nicholas Bove, Zachary Bove (Aileen Scullin Turcich), Carly Bove (Dan Combs), Madison Bove and Lindsey Wells Anderson (TJ), her aunt Kathleen Panetta (Bryan), her uncle Anthony Tasca, (Paul Humenik), her niece Sevi Turcich and nephew Miles Anderson, her dog Nora and cat Bronson.
