In January, 2008, Sam asked me to be a once a week volunteer in the organ shop to help with the restoration of the Orchestral Division. Many man-hours were needed to complete that work. I sat across the work bench from Sam once a week for seven years absorbing Sam's knowledge of organ repair, old clocks, antique automobiles, player pianos and vintage phonographs. I'm so grateful for his kindness and friendship to me over that time. I am going to miss Sam very much. He was a very big part of my life.

Sam was one of the first people to make me feel welcome in the Wanamaker organ shop. His grumpiness and complaining could not disguise how deeply he cared for "Baby" and the people who worked with her. He was a fine craftsman and I am honored that he trusted me to work with him in any way. I can not imagine walking into the shop and not finding him in his "King's chair." Sam ... you were more important to me than you could ever know. I love you and will miss you always.
