Sylvia Carnuccio's Obituary
Salvatrice “Sylvia” Carnuccio (née Ristagno) passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026 with her family by her side. Born in Philadelphia to Concetto and Salvatrice “Lily” (née Muscara) Ristagno, Sylvia was 99 years old. Beloved and devoted wife of 75 years to John N. Carnuccio, Sr. Loving mother of John N. (Susan) Carnuccio, Jr. and Patricia (Robert) Schmidt. Cherished grandmother of John Carnuccio, III, Maren (Jeff) Sabella (née Carnuccio), Michael (Kayla) Carnuccio, Kayln (Chad) Chance (née Williams), and Kevin (Lauren) Williams. Great-grandmother to Gia Sabella, Anna Rose Carnuccio, Jaclyn Sabella, Joseph Carnuccio, Thomas Carnuccio, Kathryn Carnuccio, Cameron Chance, Weston Williams, Henry Williams, Caleb Klein, and Kennedy Frye.
Sylvia was the youngest of 5 siblings and is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Rosina “Rosie” and Rosaria “Sadie”, and brothers Vincenzo “Jimmy” and Alfredo “Freddy.”
Her amazing life story is best told as having a meager beginning as the youngest child of immigrant parents, to long-distance love through World War II, to the strength and resilience needed to relocate a growing family to different communities across the country, to dedicating her last decades to her son and his family, and finally living near and doing life with her daughter. Sylvia always has been fiercely loyal to those she loved, selflessly generous to anyone in need, and a beacon of love to all whom she encountered.
In addition to her complete devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Sylvia was proud to serve her church as Sacristan, member of the Altar Society, and Hospitality Committee. Bunco games brought out her feisty side, and in her early years she could be found at the bowling alley where she never met a pin she couldn’t topple. If there was music and space to dance, Sylvia and John were up and dancing as long as the music kept up.
More than anything, Sylvia enjoyed hosting her family for holidays, birthdays, and Sunday dinners. Friends were always welcome, and hers was a home full of laughter, delicious food, and an abundance of love.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, January 15th from 9:00 to 10:30am at Givnish Funeral Home of Marlton (398 East Main Street).
Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am at St. Joan of Arc Church, Marlton.
Entombment will take place at Locustwood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Sylvia's name to the Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org/).
