When I heard of Tommy's passing the memories came flooding back.
I moved onto Weymouth Drive in the summer on 93' and it wasn't long until I asked the question, "Who is the guy that keeps driving by?" "Oh,, that's Tom Shea," someone replied.
I would watch Tommy drive his Mustang through the neighborhood, putting a quarter mile on at a time. He ended up putting multiple quarter miles on in a day. I mean A LOT of quarter miles on. Lol
Eventually, I had the pleasure of meeting Tommy and I got to know him quite well.
Standing at 5'9", I looked up to Tom in more ways than one. The main reason was that he toward over me. I mean sometimes my neck would cramp.
Getting to know Tommy through the years, I remember a few things that he really enjoyed, Trucking, his 68' Mustang (which he kept at the lumber yard), the Phillies and, at the time, his love for Old Grand Dad! I hope his taste changed over the years for OGD, but if not, it wouldn't surprise me. Personally, I find it a bit rough 😂.
Tommy, grew up with strong family values and even when we all got called down to the Lewandowski's for "the meeting," his dad backed him up in front of all the parents by saying, "I would have run too!" Once it came out that Tommy thought Amy was trying to hook up with Tommy. It wasn't our best moment as kids in life, but it was a moment that I will never forget.
There are many memories I won't forget because it is hard to not remember Tommy. He was a gentle soul, a humble person who had an unforgettable smile.
As time moved on our relationship did not and we slowly drifted apart. Tommy became a family man, whose wife and children I never met. Through the memorial video, I can see how happy Tommy was and I am happy for him.
Now, I must be saddened by his loss just like everyone that knew him. But, that's a good thing, is it not? Regardless of when you met Tommy and for how long you remained close, Tommy left a positive impact on our lives, our memories and our hearts!
I imagine Tommy being free of this world as his soul moved on and he is putting quarter miles on at a time until he is reconnected with those he left behind!
