Our parents realized at the time of Tim’s birth he would need to be strong, and courageous in 1954 to face the battle of living with a cleft lip and palate. They also knew this fight would not be easy so they sought out a young Physician, Dr. Peter B. Randall (1923-2014). Dr. Randall would eventually become a world-renowned plastic surgeon and leader in the field of cleft lip and palate surgery. His Randall-Tennison repair and several other techniques are still used today. Throughout Tim’s life, he would remain close to Dr. Randall whose pioneer work would give him the opportunity to overcome the obstacles he faced in 1954. And, as our parents hopes and prayers proved to be answered, he went on and grew into the incredible loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend. His obituary tells a story, his life defined the man. From the very humble beginnings in a tiny, proud neighborhood called swamp-poodle, where his dad put him behind home plate to protect him with a mask, to the man who put one foot in front of another each morning, knowing from the start of his day, the challenges he faced. In his heart he realized this battle with cancer would rob him of the life he knew and cherished. He did so with grace, dignity, integrity and courage. In the words of his daughter Katie, “To know you is to love you” although sung by many artists, the words reigned true in the life of her dad.
So, as our hearts are broken, rest now, our dear valiant brother, for you are home with your Lord, in peace.
Forever our love,
Connie, Larry, Carolynn, Colleen, Billy and Cioci Evelyn
