Timothy L. Costello's Obituary
To know him is to love him
Timothy L Costello of Riverton, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by his beloved wife Chrissy, daughter Katie Harrington, along with his loving family and “prayer warriors” of Calvary Church family.
Born August 27th 1954 in Riverside, NJ, Tim’s life was marked by his faith, unwavering dedication to his family, along with his passion of baseball, and mentoring many of the student athletes who relied on him for guidance and skill-based training.
Tim wore many hats in his professional life. From the sandlots of swamp-poodle, Riverside, NJ to the University of Arizona, and finally to the Wildcat Baseball Stadium at the University of Kentucky, Tim could be found behind home plate as an accomplished catcher for all his teams. This in turn led him to be selected to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Baseball Team representing the United States and traveling to South American countries as an athlete whose mission was to use sports to impact the world for Jesus Christ.
His educational career spanned over thirty years as an administrator, athletic director, teacher and coach in both private and public schools. He was the coordinator of the Gordon-Masters Football Club of Burlington County, an adjunct professor at Burlington County College. He was a die-hard Phillies fan, participated in the Broad Street Marathons, and was part of the Calvary Church Run for God. He strived to live life to fullest and in even in some of his darkest moments Tim would use his walker to continue his Run for his Lord and Savior.
As a man of faith, his path would sometimes lead him to understand the needs of others so he and his wife Chrissy would often extend their home and heart to family or friends in need of a place to stay. Be it a day or a year, no need was too great, no time was too long.
Tim was often known as Cos, Timmy, Bro or “big guy” to his family and friends, but the name he cherished most was grandpop. It defined him, gave him strength, and helped him overcome some of those most difficult days. Most of all, the unconditional love he gave, and the joy they brought into his life, will live on in the timeless loving memories of his grandchildren and children.
Tim is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Chrissy (King), their children Katie Harrington (Mark) of Tabernacle, Bret Favorite (Joleen) of Hermiston, Oregon, and Louis Favorite (Barbara) of Wichita Falls, Texas. Doting grandfather of Markie, and Saylor Harrington, Aiden, Brody, Moxie and Mya Favorite. He was the much beloved brother to Larry Costello (Jane) Connie Howe (Jeff), Carolynn Chesney (late Marty Chesney), and Colleen Nimrouzi (late Nadar Nimrouzi), Brother-in-law Bill Brooks, and Cioci Evelyn.
His is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and his dear friends in Christ, Ruby Rocks and Pastor Chris.
He was predeceased in death by his parents, Bernard and Irene Costello, his sister Cindy Brooks, his nephews Luke Chesney and Richard King, as well as his mother-in-law Leone King.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Calvary Church in Delran, NJ at 2:00PM on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024. (317 Conrow Rd, Delran, NJ 08075)
