Walter F Deitz's Obituary
Walter F. Deitz passed away peacefully on January 25, 2014 in Camden, NJ. Born in Camden, Walt was 84 years old. He was a resident of Palmyra for over 75 years. He was very active in community affairs, serving as Palmyra Police dispatcher, coaching little league teams and was a past Palmyra Zoning Board president. Walt loved playing football in high school and semi-pro for Palmyra. He played a prominent part in the record setting 12-1 team in 1948. Walter proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War, serving on the USS Missouri. He was a long time member of the Central Baptist Church and served in many different capacities. Walt was employed as a supervisor at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, retiring in 1985 and also worked for Seacor in Cherry Hill after his retirement. Beloved husband of 62 years to Joyce S. (nee Stockton). Loving father of Deborah K. Deitz and Jeffery S. Deitz. Pa to Ashley, Eric, Thomas and Andrew. Brother of Donald Deitz (Pam). Relatives and friends are invited to attend Walt’s Life Celebration and viewing on Thursday, January 30th, 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Central Baptist Church 514 Maple Avenue, Palmyra, NJ 08065. His Funeral Service will follow at 12 noon. Military Honors to follow his funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Central Baptist Church.
