I am so lucky to know the Goldy family. They have had a tremendous impact on my life and the life of my family, specifically my parents. Mr. Goldy was my dad’s best friend. I could never truly thank them for the profound and beautiful ways they have enriched the life of my family. One of the many moments that speak to the incredible humans they are was when I was graduating high school and my dad was in the hospital recovering from MRSA. Mrs. Goldy came and helped steady my mom while Mr. Goldy stayed at the hospital with my dad and brought him a sandwich. My dad later told me that that was the true mark of a best friend—he stayed with him, took care of him, and made him laugh. He showed up—just like Mrs. Goldy did for my mom.
Another moment—out of many—was when we were planning my mom and dad’s surprise anniversary party. They were so excited to trick them and take them out as a distraction. My mom and dad felt so special as they told us they were going to the WaterWorks with them. This was around the time, I believe, they were drinking Arbor Mist! I still remember Mr. Goldy’s satisfied laugh when he saw how blown away my mom and dad were by the surprise.
And I can’t help but share one more favorite moment—when I met my husband, Mr. Goldy gave him the seal of approval when he graciously took Nate in, joked with him, and ultimately told me, “I like him! He makes you nicer!” And my dad laughed and said, “Bill only makes fun of people he likes.” It made me feel very special to be touched by his sense of humor.
Mr. Goldy will be so very missed, especially at our Christmas Eve party. We will undoubtedly brew an extra cup of coffee for him. ❤️ As always, Nate and I send love to this remarkable and loving family. May his memory be a blessing.
